Rolling Out The Red Carpet at Prom

By Allie Edwards

ROGERS, ARK. — With this year’s prom right around the corner, scholars will be excited to know the plans that will make this dance the best one yet. With this year’s theme being “Old Hollywood,” there will be many show stopping memories to be had!

Murder on the dance floor? Not this year. Prom committee member Reese Jolly said, “This year we are definitely trying to get a bigger dance floor than last year. We will have the picture [booths] because I’ve heard that they were much appreciated.”

The venue, Apollo on Emma in Springdale, is a bit smaller than the 2023 location, but the committee is working around the size. “We do have plenty of room, which is extremely important, so we don’t have overcrowding. There’s gonna be an entrance and an actual dance room.” Jolly said.

Having good music makes or breaks a movie, which is why the prom committee is turning it up this year with the selection. “We are going to hire the same DJ as last year… there will be a playlist that is required for him to play first before recommendations,“ said senior prom committee member Emily Hammond.

The Committee has made it their mission to provide a better snack experience for the scholars that walk down the red carpet. Hammond said, “The snacks will be…not so little. We’re trying to get them to be not so little.”

Ticket prices have not been released, but Jolly said, “This year, they’re going to be 20-25, definitely making it more affordable.” As we know, last year’s tickets were more expensive due to the vineyards being more expensive to rent. That problem will be solved through the venue that has been booked this year.

This year’s prom should be one to remember, not just for seniors, but for everyone who attends!

“What I would like to personally see at prom is that it goes well. There’s no awkward- there’s also no “cliques” within it and everybody kinda gets together. I would like to see the dancefloor be actually full,” Hammond explained.

With prom being March 9, everyone is getting ready for the big show. “I’m going all out for this prom,” said Hammond. “‘Personally I have rented a car for this prom, and I have gone to a beauty pageant dress for this prom.”

Do not forget, If you’re wanting to bring a plus one to the premier that is not a Haas Hall scholar, a form will be at your campus’ front desk.
