Academic advisor and counselor Mallory Scherrey will be leaving her role to pursue personal ventures. During her time at the school, Scherrey became known as a consistent and compassionate presence, offering guidance and support to scholars navigating both academic and personal challenges. Her departure marks the end of a chapter defined by daily encouragement, strong relationships, and a commitment to scholarly growth.
Reflecting on what first brought her to Haas Hall and what encouraged her to remain, Scherrey highlighted her passion for connection and community. “I’ve always loved being part of a community and working with teens,” Scherrey said. “Haas has given me the chance to connect with scholars, support them, and be part of their journey. Knowing everyone by name and building those personal connections has been such a privilege.”
Throughout her time at the school, Scherrey has built numerous meaningful connections –moments she says she will carry with her. “I treasure the moments when I connect with scholars on a deeper level–whether it’s laughter during a tough day, the sigh of relief when they feel heard, or the light in their eyes when they know someone truly cares,” she said. “Those connections stay with me.”
Of the many school events Scherrey attended, graduation is particularly special, she says, “Graduation always stands out to me. I’ve seen scholars grow academically and personally, and graduation is a moment to celebrate all of that growth. It’s a reminder that our scholars are capable of achieving amazing things and have such bright futures ahead.” For her, watching scholars walk across the stage is both a proud moment and an emotional one, as it not only represents success but deep connections made along the way.
Scherrey said that she has been deeply impacted by the scholars at Haas Hall: “Our scholars have touched my life in ways I’ll never forget. Being trusted with their struggles and seeing the kindness and love they show in return has been an incredible honor.” The connection she has built with the scholars shows the mutual respect and care that thrives within the Haas Hall Rogers community. It serves as a reminder that education has a significant impact far beyond the classroom, shaping lives in ways that are both lasting and meaningful.
