ROGERS – Two Haas Hall Rogers scholars in HOSA qualified to participate in internationals in Nashville this summer after winning awards at the state competition.

In February, senior Dhrishni Bora and junior Mimi Costaldi won awards for placing in their chosen events in Hot Springs. Bora earned first place in Human Growth and Development, and Costaldi earned second place in Medical Reading. Eighteen HHA Rogers scholars prepared for their events prior to participating in the state competition.
The event brought together schools from all over the state, providing students a chance to test their knowledge and skills in healthcare-related events.

Costaldi read more than five medical books about human health, behavior, and anatomy.

“I summarized them and then I tested myself over each chapter,” Costaldi said.

Bora said her study method was “quizlet in order to memorize the terms.”

Beyond the competition, HOSA exposes students to new opportunities, such as meeting new people or talking with the speakers at the conference.

“I made some connections with the speakers at the event,” Costaldi said.
